Saputo Inc., a leading global dairy processor, recently released its 2024 Saputo Promise Report, detailing significant progress in its sustainability efforts and broader ESG commitments.
Central to the report is Saputo’s robust achievement in environmental sustainability, with a notable 5% reduction in carbon intensity from the previous fiscal year and an 18% reduction since the 2020 baseline. These gains are largely attributed to the company’s escalating initiatives in renewable electricity, aligning with its science-based targets for emissions reduction.
The report is part of “The Saputo Promise,” the company’s strategic framework consisting of seven Pillars that guide its operations to ensure integrity and accountability while supporting the communities it serves. This framework underscores Saputo’s commitment to environmental management, high food safety standards, ethical business practices, and nurturing community relationships.

In addition to environmental progress, the report highlights advancements in other areas: all Saputo facilities have maintained Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standards with high compliance ratings, and improvements in worker safety are evidenced by a 9% improvement in the Total Injury Frequency Rate and an 11% reduction in the Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate.
The company also continued its support for sustainable agriculture, funding projects in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia aimed at enhancing dairy farmers’ sustainability practices.
Community engagement remains a priority, with Saputo redistributing over 2.2 million kilos of food products to local food banks—providing meals for nearly six million people. Furthermore, the company’s nutrition efforts have been recognized, with a significant leap in the Canadian Bia-Obesity Report by INFORMAS Canada, moving up 10 places since 2019.
