Noble Foods, the UK’s leading egg producer, has significantly enhanced its solar power capabilities at its flagship egg packing center in Lincolnshire. The addition of a new 370KWp solar system raises the total capacity at the site to 520kWp, enabling the facility to occasionally operate entirely on solar-generated energy during peak sunlight hours. This includes powering a bank of electric car chargers for staff use.

The expansion aligns with Noble Foods’ commitment to sustainable practices, aimed at nourishing people, animals, and the planet. The project, executed by Noble Green Energy — a division within Noble Foods Group — underscores the company’s strategy to integrate more renewable energy solutions into its operations.

This latest solar installation is expected to generate over 416,000 KW/h annually, translating to a carbon emissions reduction equivalent to 200 tonnes or 74,000 HGV road miles. Richard Wood, Managing Director of Noble Green Energy, expressed pride in leveraging their own-generated energy for the initiative.

“This is a huge achievement for our team and we’re incredibly proud to have collaborated with Noble Foods using our own-generated energy,” he said in a statement.

“We’re pleased to be working with many different industries, from agricultural to manufacturing, helping our partners to find new solutions and adopt green energy into their existing infrastructure. To be able to expand the solar generation on our own doorstep is a great achievement for our team and a big milestone for the wider Noble Foods group”.

Noble Foods commits to optimizing energy efficiency

The installation also features a monitoring platform to optimize energy use and ensure compliance with National Grid standards, enhancing operational efficiency. According to Liam Burke, Managing Director of Noble Consumer Foods, this installation not only supports the site’s operational needs but also contributes to Noble Foods’ broader Net-Zero objectives.

“We’re incredibly happy with this new Solar System which has been expertly installed on a site prone to flooding,” he said. “All the energy generated will be consumed at time of generation ensuring we’re receiving the maximum benefit as our business takes further steps towards achieving our Net-Zero aims.”

Burke further added that the success of the project has prompted the company to roll out solar panels throughout other suitable locations.

Noble Green Energy continues to expand its services across diverse industries, providing solutions like Solar PV, Battery Storage, and System Monitoring to help businesses navigate energy challenges and achieve carbon reduction goals.
