PepsiCo has reported its 2025 ESG performance progress toward pep+ (PepsiCo Positive) goals, demonstrating measurable advancement across climate action, regenerative agriculture, product nutrition transformation, and water stewardship. The company achieved 24% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions versus its 2022 baseline, while expanding regenerative, restorative, and protective agricultural practices to 4.7 million acres globally.

“Our sustainability agenda and portfolio transformation initiatives are fundamentally about strengthening PepsiCo for the long term,” said Ramon Laguarta, PepsiCo Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. “Through pep+, we are working to build a more resilient business — one that aims to adapt to changing consumer preferences, supports our growth strategy, and creates value for shareholders while striving to help support the resources and communities that are critical to our future.”

Climate Emissions Reduction Across Multiple Scopes

PepsiCo achieved 24% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions, 12% reduction in Scope 3 Energy and Industry, and 18% reduction in Scope 3 Forest, Land and Agriculture emissions versus 2022 baseline. The company sourced 96% of global electricity needs for company-owned operations from renewable sources, representing approximately 4,300 gigawatt-hours.

PepsiCo collaborated with fertilizer company Yara International to support approximately 1,000 farms covering around 128,000 hectares across European Union and U.K. to adopt low-carbon fertilizers and precision farming technologies, focusing primarily on potato production. In Mexico, the company integrated 1,070 Ford E-Transit electric vans into delivery fleet to reduce carbon emissions and improve logistics sustainability.

Regenerative Agriculture at Scale

The expansion of regenerative, restorative, and protective practices to 4.7 million acres represents a significant scale increase supporting both agricultural resilience and climate objectives. The company has supported approximately 224,000 people across agricultural supply chains and communities through dedicated programming designed to improve economic prosperity and farmer and farm worker security globally since 2021.

The scale of regenerative agriculture acreage positions PepsiCo as a substantial influence on agricultural production practices across multiple geographies and crop types, demonstrating market viability of regenerative systems at a commercial scale while supporting farm worker economic outcomes.

Nutrition Portfolio Transformation

PepsiCo exceeded 2025 nutrition targets across multiple categories:

68% of beverage portfolio volume met the goal of no more than 100 calories from added sugars per 12-ounce serving, exceeding the 2025 target of 67%. 79% of convenient foods volume met sodium targets at or below 1.3 milligrams per calorie, exceeding the 2025 goal of 75%, while 49% of its convenient foods portfolio volume met its 2030 ambition targets at or below category sodium targets. 79% of convenient foods volume met saturated fat targets at or below 1.1 grams per 100 calories, exceeding the 2025 target of 75%.

The company delivered 79 billion portions of diverse ingredients, including whole grains, plant-based proteins, fruits and vegetables, progressing toward 2030 goal of 145 billion portions annually in its global convenient foods portfolio. The diverse ingredient integration reflects portfolio evolution toward foods providing greater nutritional density while reducing ultra-processed composition.

Plastic Reduction and Circular Economy

PepsiCo reported 2.0 million metric tons of plastic use in key packaging markets in 2025, with 6% reduction in absolute virgin plastic tonnage between 2024 and 2025. The company achieved 18% recycled plastic in 2025 primary plastic packaging, demonstrating progress toward circular packaging systems while maintaining functionality and shelf-life requirements.

The virgin plastic reduction combined with recycled content increase represents dual-axis approach addressing both absolute consumption and material sourcing composition.

Water Stewardship and Watershed Replenishment

PepsiCo achieved 100% water replenishment at company-owned facilities in high water-risk watersheds and adopted Alliance for Water Stewardship Standard across all company-owned manufacturing sites in high water-risk areas. The company supported more than 60 active replenishment projects helping restore approximately 35 billion liters of water to local watersheds.

PepsiCo continues to report toward pep+ ambitions with significant milestones ahead. The company aims to expand regenerative agriculture practices to substantially greater acreage while achieving 145 billion portions annually of diverse ingredients by 2030. Climate targets remain under refinement as methodologies evolve with Greenhouse Gas Protocol and Science Based Targets Initiative guidance.

The deforestation and conversion-free sourcing goal reporting will be published at a later date as methodologies and data continue finalization.
