Wynn Resorts has released its 2025 ESG Report detailing environmental sustainability initiatives, workforce development programs, and community impact across North American operations. The luxury hospitality company advanced waste diversion efforts, committed to operational carbon emissions peak by 2030, and contributed more than $23.2 million in cash and in-kind charitable support during 2025.
The report, announced May 7, aligns with select Global Reporting Initiative Standards and Sustainability Accounting Standards Board frameworks, providing a comprehensive overview of its environmental performance, employee initiatives, and long-term sustainability commitments across Wynn Las Vegas, Encore Boston Harbor, and Wynn Mayfair operations.
“Our progress as a company is grounded in the values our employees bring to life every day,” said Craig S. Billings, CEO of Wynn Resorts. “We believe that doing good and doing well are one and the same, and that commitment is reflected in how we support our people, engage with our communities and operate our business with care, dignity and respect.”
Waste diversion and landfill reduction
Wynn Las Vegas diverted 49% of waste from landfills in 2025, while Encore Boston Harbor achieved 57% diversion through recycling and composting programs. The waste diversion rates reflect systematic infrastructure supporting material separation, recycling processor relationships, composting partnerships, and employee training protocols across property operations.
Waste diversion in hospitality operations requires coordination across food and beverage outlets, guest rooms, conference facilities, retail locations, and back-of-house operations. Hotels generate diverse waste streams including food scraps, cardboard, plastics, glass, metals, paper, textiles, and organic materials requiring tailored collection, sorting, and processing approaches.
Composting programs capture food waste from kitchens, restaurants, banquet operations, and employee dining facilities, diverting organic materials from landfills where decomposition generates methane emissions. Recycling initiatives target packaging materials, beverage containers, office paper, and guest room recyclables through property-wide collection systems.
The 49-57% diversion rates position Wynn Resorts properties above typical hospitality industry benchmarks, where waste diversion often ranges 20-40% depending on facility infrastructure, local recycling markets, and program investment levels.
Climate commitments and emissions targets
Wynn Resorts established environmental sustainability goals, including peaking operational carbon emissions by 2030, achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, and increasing renewable electricity procurement to 50% of North American consumption by 2030.
The 2030 emissions peak commitment requires stabilizing or reducing absolute greenhouse gas emissions from direct operations by the end of the decade, establishing a maximum emissions level before transitioning to a declining emissions trajectory toward a 2050 net-zero target.
Net-zero by 2050 aligns with Paris Agreement objectives limiting global temperature increase to 1.5 degrees Celsius, requiring companies to reduce emissions to near-zero with residual emissions balanced through carbon removal or offsetting mechanisms.
Renewable electricity procurement expansion to 50% by 2030 addresses Scope 2 emissions from purchased power, the largest controllable emissions source for many hospitality operators. Renewable electricity strategies include direct procurement through power purchase agreements, renewable energy certificates, and utility green power programs.
Operational carbon emissions in hospitality primarily originate from natural gas combustion for heating and hot water, electricity consumption for lighting and HVAC systems, refrigeration equipment, on-site vehicle fleets, and emergency generators. Achieving emissions peak and subsequent reductions requires energy efficiency improvements, electrification of thermal loads, renewable energy adoption, and operational optimization.
Workforce development and employee investment
Wynn Las Vegas marked its 20th anniversary by awarding stock grants to eligible employees based on years of service, recognizing long-term contributions to company success. The stock grant program provides equity ownership opportunities for workforce members, aligning employee and shareholder interests while rewarding tenure.
Through Wynn University, employees can access leadership training and career development programs in partnership with the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and Boston University. The Wynn Resorts Foundation Scholarship Program reached a milestone, exceeding $1.4 million awarded to over 110 students since its inception in 2018.
The scholarship program supports employees and dependents pursuing higher education, reducing financial barriers to degree attainment while building workforce capabilities. Scholarship investments demonstrate commitment to employee wellbeing extending beyond the immediate workplace to long-term educational and career outcomes.
Community contributions and philanthropic partnerships
Wynn Resorts contributed more than $20.6 million in cash donations and $2.6 million in in-kind support to nonprofit organizations across North America in 2025, totaling $23.2 million in charitable contributions. Through the Wynn Resorts Foundation, employee-led fundraising generated $1.4 million with participation from more than 2,600 employees supporting over 300 nonprofit organizations and community initiatives.
The company celebrated the Campus for Hope, a public-private partnership in Southern Nevada addressing homelessness through housing, healthcare, job training, and social services. The integrated services model combines multiple support systems, enabling homeless individuals to access coordinated assistance addressing underlying barriers to housing stability.
Wynn Resorts employees and community partners packaged more than 2.2 million meals in 2025, bringing the total meals packed through partnership with The Pack Shack to more than 8 million since 2018.
