ofi, an operating group of Olam specializing in cocoa, coffee, dairy, nuts, and spices, released its first Choices for Change impact report detailing progress against sustainability milestone targets. The report demonstrates how ingredient suppliers are responding to tightening regulatory requirements around traceability, due diligence, and Scope 3 emissions while addressing longstanding challenges in global supply chains.
The report reveals substantial progress in farmer livelihood initiatives. In 2025, 570,000 farmer households received livelihood support through ofi programs, while more than 200,000 farmer households recorded living income levels influenced by the combination of ofi initiatives and higher market prices for cocoa and coffee. The living income achievement reflects coordinated efforts to improve farmer productivity and market access alongside commodity price stabilization.
“Customers are asking for better visibility and more reliable data across supply chains,” said Roel van Poppel, chief sustainability officer at ofi. “This report brings that information together in one place and gives a clearer view of the progress we are making across our supply chains, where more work is still needed and what we are learning as we go.”
Human rights and deforestation systems
ofi completed deployment of human rights due diligence systems across all supply chains in 2025, meeting its 2025 milestone. All high-risk supply chains now have systems to identify, prevent, and remediate child labor, addressing critical human rights vulnerabilities in global agriculture. Ongoing monitoring and remediation continue across operations.
On forest protection, approximately 730,000 farms are geolocated on ofi’s Track and Trace system, which provides EUDR (EU Deforestation Regulation) compliance capability. The system includes deforestation risk assessments and action plans across all high-risk supply chains, enabling transparent identification of farms requiring enhanced monitoring or intervention.
The Track and Trace system integrates on-the-ground digital applications with enterprise resource planning systems, enabling traceability from individual farm plots to customers. The system won the ESG Tech—Food & Beverage award at Singapore Business Review Technology Excellence Awards, recognizing innovation in supply chain transparency infrastructure.
ofi’s Scope 1, 2, and 3 climate targets were validated by the Science Based Targets initiative, establishing credible emissions reduction pathways. The company achieved 41% renewable energy use across its tier 1 processing facilities, demonstrating operational decarbonization progress alongside supply chain emissions reduction strategies.
Partnership examples
ofi highlighted two partnership examples demonstrating supply chain collaboration. With ALDI SOUTH Group in Honduras, a living income program provides direct market access, agricultural training, and tailored guidance helping farmers increase productivity and enhance livelihoods. Rachel Vujovic, sustainability director at ALDI SOUTH Group, stated that “strong partnerships empower us to achieve greater impact, develop better solutions, and broaden our positive influence.”
With Nestlé, ofi is implementing a global agroforestry program providing forest and fruit tree seedlings and training to cocoa farmers. The initiative supports farmer resilience while contributing to shared climate goals for 2030 and beyond.
