CSM Group, a leader in food ingredient innovation and production, recently announced its partnership with Europe’s largest climate and food summit, HackSummit, set to take place in Lausanne, Switzerland, on June 13-14. This collaboration underscores CSM Group’s commitment to fostering sustainable food solutions through its newly launched startup incubator, Generate.

Generate, part of CSM’s Ingredient-Tech Platform, is designed to support early-stage startups in developing sustainable food ingredients. Offering tailored 12-18 month programs, Generate provides startups with access to R&D expertise, application opportunities, state-of-the-art facilities, and commercial support.

Aldo Uva, CEO of CSM Collective, emphasized that Generate epitomizes the company’s Open Innovation strategy, which merges internal capabilities with external expertise to enhance sustainability and deliver superior taste experiences.

Christian Sobolta, Managing Director of CSM Group, expressed excitement about the partnership with HackSummit, highlighting the opportunity to engage with startups and like-minded investors in the sustainable food ecosystem. “Generate was established to empower young innovators by helping them validate their concepts, navigate market entry, and access vital business networks,” Sobolta explained.

The summit will also showcase the first cohort of startups participating in the Generate program. These startups were selected for their innovative technologies and potential synergistic impact on the food value chain. They include:

  • Ingrediome – Focuses on creating animal proteins from rapidly growing photosynthetic microorganisms, aiming to develop next-generation plant-based meat alternatives. Generate will assist Ingrediome with technology advancement, market entry strategies, and regulatory compliance.
  • DairyX – Specializes in animal-free, clean-label dairy products using functional milk proteins produced through precision fermentation. Generate will leverage its dairy alternatives expertise to help DairyX match the texture, taste, and nutritional profile of traditional cow milk.
  • PoLoPo – Engages in metabolic engineering to produce egg protein from potatoes, offering potential applications in baking such as foaming, gelation, and moisture retention. Generate will support PoLoPo in optimizing processes and ensuring regulatory compliance.

These startups will be featured in a discussion titled “Inspiring the Future of Ingredients: Leading the Sustainable Food Evolution through Generate,” scheduled for June 13 at the Climate Lab. This session will explore the critical role of startups in driving the future of the food and beverage sector and will include insights from Uri Weinheber and Ilanit Kabessa of URIKA Partners, along with leaders from participating startups.

CSM Group is actively seeking applications from more startups to join the Generate program, with details available on the CSM Ingredients website. This initiative not only highlights CSM Group’s role in advancing sustainable food production but also its dedication to nurturing the next generation of food industry innovators.
