Two European Horizon projects focused on food system digitalization and sustainability are inviting SMEs and technology providers to showcase innovations at a major conference in Brussels this June, with applications for innovation pitches closing March 30.

The Data4Food2030 and TITAN joint conference, scheduled for June 17-18 at Sparks venue in Brussels, will bring together researchers, innovators, industry leaders, policymakers and investors focused on building sustainable food supply chains through data-driven solutions. The event marks the final milestone of both Horizon Europe-funded projects.

The organizers have already issued calls for abstract submissions for oral and poster presentations from researchers and practitioners, with that deadline closing March 3. The later March 30 deadline targets technology providers and SMEs seeking to demonstrate commercial applications through innovation pitches.

Beyond scientific presentations, the conference features an SME Marketplace where innovative projects can apply for exhibition booths, and dedicated innovation pitch sessions where technology providers can demonstrate applied solutions to investors and industry stakeholders. Young scientists and SMEs can also compete for awards recognizing breakthrough work in food systems innovation.

Four priority areas for food system transformation

The conference addresses four thematic areas critical to Europe’s food system transition. Food safety and fraud prevention technologies include AI, blockchain and smart sensors for traceability and risk assessment. Consumer-focused innovations cover front-of-pack labeling systems, data-sharing platforms and educational tools enabling informed food choices.

Sustainable supply chain solutions encompass circular economy models, food waste reduction technologies, precision farming for climate resilience, and ESG-driven traceability systems. The fourth track focuses on developing Europe’s data economy through federated data spaces, interoperable architectures and privacy-preserving technologies for secure information exchange.

“This is more than a scientific conference. It is a strategic platform where breakthrough research meets real-world application,” according to the organizers. Participants will engage directly with investors and policymakers shaping Europe’s food and digital agendas.

Bridging research and market deployment

The conference structure aims to accelerate movement from research findings to market implementation by creating direct connections between technology developers and potential adopters or funders. The SME Marketplace and innovation pitches provide visibility for smaller companies and startups working on food system solutions.

The event includes over 90 presentation slots, more than 50 poster presentations, and a dedicated networking arena designed to facilitate cross-sector partnerships. The format addresses a common gap in food system innovation: translating scientific advances and pilot projects into scaled deployment across Europe’s diverse food value chains.

Both TITAN and Data4Food2030 are Horizon Europe projects focused on advancing transparency and digitalization in food systems. The projects work on developing interoperable data infrastructures that enable secure information sharing across food supply chains while protecting competitive interests and privacy.

Technology providers and SMEs interested in presenting innovations can submit applications for pitch sessions through March 30. Companies working on solutions aligned with the conference’s four thematic tracks — food safety and fraud prevention, consumer information systems, sustainable supply chains, or data economy infrastructure — are eligible to apply.

The conference takes place as European food companies face increasing regulatory requirements for supply chain transparency, including the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive and proposed due diligence legislation.

Registration for conference attendance remains open, with details available on the event website.
