Hormel Foods Corporation has reduced water usage by 5.5% while eliminating 9.7 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions, according to the company’s 2024 Global Impact Report released under its new “Good Feeds Us All” sustainability framework.

The Fortune 500 global branded food company, with approximately USD 12 billion in annual revenue across more than 80 countries, reported saving more than 73 million gallons of water compared to the previous year. The company also completed 23 packaging projects in the US supply chain, reducing materials by more than one million pounds.

“Good Feeds Us All evolved naturally and purposefully from our earlier 20 By 30 Challenge,” said Katie Clark, senior vice president and chief communications officer at Hormel Foods. “Good Feeds Us All is now allowing us to organize and streamline our company’s global impact work under two interconnected pillars — planet and society — reflecting the ecosystems and people our business depends on every day.”

The Good Feeds Us All framework articulates four key focus areas: reaffirming commitments to reducing greenhouse gas emissions within operational boundaries, conveying clearer focus on responsible sourcing across the entire supply chain, enhancing objectives around consumers and product quality, and outlining initiatives to strengthen global communities.

Hormel Foods contributed more than $22.6 million in cash and product donations while providing free college education and related support services to 179 dependents of US team members.

Hormel Foods: Reporting alignment supports industry standards

The 2024 Global Impact Report has been published under direction of the Hormel Foods Global Impact Executive Council, utilizing Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards and Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) Processed Foods and Meat, Poultry & Dairy Standards to inform reporting practices.

The company’s brands include Planters, Skippy, Spam, Hormel Natural Choice, Applegate, Justin’s, Wholly, Hormel Black Label, Columbus, and Jennie-O, among more than 30 food brands distributed globally.

“Today’s release of our Global Impact Report reflects our continued focus on what matters most, which includes supporting our team members and communities, advancing responsible practices across our supply chain and continuing to deliver trusted, high-quality food,” said John Ghingo, president of Hormel Foods.

The report represents the company’s 19th annual sustainability disclosure
