Danone has achieved CDP Triple A recognition for 2025, earning top scores in climate change, water stewardship and forest preservation among nearly 20,000 companies assessed by the environmental disclosure platform.
The French food and beverage company is one of only 23 organizations globally to receive A grades across all three environmental categories in CDP’s 2025 assessment. The recognition reflects corporate transparency and verified environmental action, according to CDP, which evaluates companies on disclosure quality and performance against environmental targets.
Antoine de Saint-Affrique, CEO of Danone, said the achievement demonstrates the company’s progress on environmental and social commitments. “This is a demanding journey—one that requires the engagement of our entire value chain, working together to build resilient and sustainable food systems,” Saint-Affrique said.
The CDP recognition follows Danone’s achievement of full B Corp certification in 2025, with more than 200 legal entities certified across over 60 countries. B Corp certification requires companies to meet verified standards of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency.
Advancing methane reduction and dairy resilience
In 2025, Danone continued implementing its Danone Impact Journey sustainability roadmap, with particular focus on reducing methane emissions from fresh milk sourcing. The company launched its Danone Milk Academy to work with farmers on strengthening dairy supply chain resilience.
Methane from livestock represents a significant portion of emissions in dairy supply chains. Danone’s efforts to address these emissions include working directly with farming partners on reduction strategies and monitoring protocols.
The company’s water stewardship initiatives in 2025 included the public release of its SPRING methodology, designed to optimize water resource management. Danone also renewed its partnership with the Ramsar Convention, the international treaty focused on wetland conservation.
Wetlands play a role in climate change mitigation by storing carbon and regulating water cycles. The Ramsar partnership supports Danone’s efforts to protect these ecosystems in regions where the company operates.
Enhanced traceability for forest preservation
For forest preservation, Danone strengthened traceability capabilities through two partnerships deploying satellite monitoring technology. The company increased supplier engagement efforts to improve visibility into commodity sourcing linked to deforestation risk.
Sherry Madera, CEO of CDP, said companies earning A scores demonstrate that environmental ambition and commercial strength are compatible objectives. “High quality data gives leaders the confidence to make earth-positive decisions that secure long-term competitiveness, attract capital and safeguard natural systems,” Madera said.
CDP’s scoring methodology evaluates companies on disclosure completeness, awareness of environmental risks, management methods for addressing those risks, and leadership through best practices and ambitious targets. Companies must demonstrate verified action beyond policy commitments to achieve A-level recognition.
The Triple A recognition places Danone among a small group of companies CDP identifies as demonstrating mature environmental governance. The 2025 A List represents less than 0.2% of companies scored across the three environmental categories.
